Administrative Functions / Document Types¶
Document types are created for the purpose of grouping documents according to their function.
Document types are not only a way to group documents but also to enforce certain rules. Custom properties can be associated with document types to ensure that when certain documents are registered, the required metadata is entered.
In the definition of a document type, administrators may require that a document assigned with a document type must include certain Metadata information. When this is the case, users will be forced to supply the required Metadata information before they can upload / publish a document.
