Office Connectors / Introduction¶
The Office Connector enables users to register word documents or excel spread sheets into MAGIQ Documents, access documents stored in MAGIQ Documents for editing or reading, or save documents outside of MAGIQ Documents for continued editing with a MAGIQ Documents link retained.
Features include:
- Provide access to documents and spread sheets via a separate MAGIQ Documents pane.
- Save the current document in Word or Excel as a new document within MAGIQ Documents.
- Create a new document from a template located in MAGIQ Documents.
- Open a document from MAGIQ to read or edit, and the save modified document as a new version in MAGIQ Documents.
- Open a document previously saved in the local checked-out document folder (Offline Cache) for continued editing and save as new version into MAGIQ Documents. This function will retain the link to the current version in MAGIQ Documents and display a message if the version or date is newer in the eDRMS.
- Office Save to MAGIQ options specifies how the document versions are saved to MAGIQ Documents when save or auto save is used.
- Previous document versions can be restored and saved as the current version.
The Office Connector supports the following Microsoft Office file types:
Word file types:
- .DOC - Word 97-2003 document.
- .DOT - Word 97-2003 template.
- .DOCX - Word 2007 or 2010 document.
- .DOTX - Word 2007 or 2010 template.
- .RTF - Rich Text Format.
- .ODT - OpenDocument Text (if possible).
Excel file types:
- .XLS - Excel 97-2003 spreadsheet.
- .XLT - Excel 97-2003 template.
- .XLSX - Excel 2007 or 2010 workbook.
- .CSV - Comma Separate Value text file.
- .ODS - OpenDocument Spreadsheet (if possible).
